Our Bike to Pele course starts by biking along a coastal country road through tropical jungles as we head towards the lava devastated village of Kalapana. Along the way you will see various lava flows that have cut through the jungle over time and your interpretive guide will provide you with information about these various eruptions and point out native Hawaiian plants.

Once we reach the village of Kalapana, which was destroyed in the 1991 lava flow, we go out to visit the famous Black Sand Beach created in from that lava flow. We will also have a hot dinner there before we hike into the active flow area. Our finish line is the active lava flow, where we will enjoy the twilight sunset viewing before returning by van to our meeting location.
