This amazing adventure starts at the Summit of Kilauea Volcano, which is currently erupting. We will bike around the rim of the summit crater on off road trails and paved roads. Along the way your interpretive guide will provide you with information about the current eruption, geology, Hawaiian culture, and pointing out native plants as you bike along.
After leaving the summit crater we will head though the lush native Hawaiian Rain Forest. Here you will see a variety of other craters as well as getting a chance to hike through the famous Thurston Lava Tube. The tour continues down the Chain of Craters Road. The total mileage of the tour is 15 miles on mostly downhill and level terrain. We will take the last 4 miles to the coast by van (time permitting) and have lunch. After lunch we will return to the summit by van and conclude our tour with a 15 minute optional wine tasting session.
