Bikevolcano.com offers daily volcano bicycle tours of Kilauea Volcano. We provide a full service experience. A van driver and tour leader accompany all tours. The tour leader escorts the riders from the pole position, while the van driver attentively follows behind.

PICKUP/MEETING LOCATIONS

** Our complimentary Hilo to Volcano Transportation Service is offered daily. Please allow ample time to reach our meeting location at the below posted times. If you are late you will need to meet the tour van at the Visitor Center in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and phone us at: 808-934-9199 to advise us of your arrival status.
1) 8:30am – 8:35am Port of Hilo
- Cruise Ship Passengers Only
Please depart your ship, then go through the Visitor Arrival Building to the curbside area outside of the building. Please do not go outside the security gate, our Van will pick you up there. Please be at the curbside area by 8:30am.
2) 8:40am – 8:45am Hilo Hawaiian Hotel – 71 Banyan Dr.
Driving Directions From Waikoloa and Kailua-Kona (1 1/2 to 2 hours): Take Hwy 19 to Hilo. Turn left at Kanoelehua Ave. onto Banyan Drive (where Hwy. 19 meets Hwy 11, the fourth intersection after coming into Hilo along the bay, Ken’s House of Pancakes will be on your right). The Hilo Hawaiian Hotel (71 Banyan Dr.) is the last hotel on your right before Queen Liliu’okalani Park (the Japanese Garden). Park in the hotel parking (free parking) or anywhere along Banyan Drive and meet the tour van in front of the hotel lobby.
Driving Directions from Volcano or Puna (30min to 40mins): Take Hwy. 11 to Kamehameha Ave. (Hwy. 19) and go straight through this intersection onto Banyan Drive.The Hilo Hawaiian Hotel (71 Banyan Dr.) is the last hotel on your right before Queen Liliu’okalani Park (the Japanese Garden). Park anywhere along Banyan Drive and meet the tour van in front of the hotel lobby.

3) 9:30am to 9:40am Kilauea General Store – 19-3972 Old Volcano Road., Volcano, HI.
Option 1 (Saddle Road):
Driving Directions From Waikoloa Resorts (2 to 2 1/2 hours): Take a left on Hwy 19 to Waikoloa Road (First Intersection near Waikoloa Heliport) head uphill to Hwy 190 where you will take a left. Take a right onto Hwy 200 then onto Hwy 2000 to end of highway. Take a right onto Komohana St then take the first left onto Puainako St. Next take a right on Hwy. 11, Kanoelehua Ave., to Volcano. Take the first left after the 26 mile marker onto Wright Road (There will be a sign there indicating Food & Lodging). Next take a left at the stop sign onto the Old Volcano Rd. The Kilauea General Store will be on your right with an Aloha Gas Station adjacent to it. Please park to the far back of the employee parking located behind the store against the trees between the green markers. Also, please write down your license plate number to register your car for parking. Go to the store’s front entrance to meet our guide and van. There is a restroom located in the store’s complex. Please no trace in the parking area by placing all trash in a rubbish can.
Driving Directions From Mauna Lani, Ritz Carlton, Fairmont Orchid, Hapuna Prince, & Mauna Kea Resorts (2 to 2 1/2): Take a left on Hwy 19 to Waimea Town. Turn right on Hwy 190. Take a left onto Hwy 200. Follow the above listed directions to the Kilauea General Store.
Option 2 (South):
Driving Directions From Waikoloa and Kailua-Kona (2 1/4 to 3 hours): Take Hwy 19 South to Kailua-Kona which changes into Hwy 11 to Volcano. Take the second left after the 27 mile marker onto Wright Road. At the stop sign take a left onto the Old Volcano Rd. The Kilauea General Store will be on your right with an Aloha Gas Station adjacent to it. Please park to the far back of the employee parking located behind the store against the trees between the green markers. Also, please write down your license plate number to register your car for parking. Go to the store’s front entrance to meet our guide and van. There is a restroom located in the store’s complex. Please leave no trace in the parking area by placing all trash in a rubbish can.
Option 3 (Northeast):
Driving Directions From Waikoloa and Kohala Resorts (3 hours): Take Hwy 19 North to Hilo. Then take Hwy 11 to Volcano. Take the first left after the 26 mile marker onto Wright Road (There will be a sign there indicating Food & Lodging). Next take a left at the stop sign onto the Old Volcano Rd. The Kilauea General Store will be on your right with an Aloha Gas Station adjacent to it. Please park to the far back of the employee parking located behind the store against the trees between the green markers. Also, please write down your license plate number to register your car for parking. Go to the store’s front entrance to meet our guide and van. There is a restroom located in the store’s complex. 4) 9:45am Visitor Center – Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
Located in the first parking lot on the right after the entrance ranger check-in station (located between mile marker 28 and 29 on Hwy. 11. Park Car fee = $10).

1) 8:50am Port of Hilo

** Call to confirm meeting time for all pick-up locations (tour meeting time is adjusted to the sunset time. Please allow ample time to reach the pick-up location. The van cannot wait for late arrivals and there are not other locations to meet up with this tour.
1) 12:30pm – 12:45pm Hilo Hawaiian Hotel – 71 Banyan Dr. {Call to confirm meeting time. See the description above for driving directions}
2) 12:50pm – 1:05pm Kea’au Town – (Call to confirm meeting time. Located between the Shell Gas Station and the McDonald’s restaurant)
Take Highway 11 towards Hilo. After the 8 mile marker, take a right at the first traffic light intersection onto Highway 139. Then take your first right, you will see a McDonald’s restaurant on your left, turn left into the parking area and park your car in the line spaces between the Shell Gas Station and the McDonald’s restaurant. Look for a white van with our name, BikeVolcano.com, and logo written on the side of the van, towing an enclosed white trailer.

!!! Riders should wear layered clothing to ensure your comfort while bicycling. Temperatures at the Summit (4000′ above sea level) sometimes range in the low 60’s to upper 70’s.
HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK BIKING RULES
1) Always ride single file on the right side of the road. Do not weave in and out.
2) Adjust your spacing to allow vehicles to pass.
3) Stop at stop signs and do not exceed the speed limit.
4) Watch for and yield to hikers, horses, and nene (Hawaiian Geese).
5) Be Safe. Control your downhill speed.
6) Bike out what you bike in. Leave no trace!
Changes, Cancellations, & Inclement Weather
In Advance
Due to the popularity of our volcano biking tours we require a no less than 48-hour notice for schedule changes and cancellations in order to avoid a 50%(within 48 hours of tour date) to 100%(within 24 hours of tour date) cancellation charge.
Day of Tour
- Weather conditions in Volcano can be unpredictable. Occasionally, Madame Pele decides she’d like Volcano to herself for the day; in which case we’ll notify you to reschedule your tour or offer an alternative bike course on the day of the tour.
- If we cancel your tour before pick-up or entry into the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, you will receive a full refund.
- If we cancel the bicycling portion of your tour after entry into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park or after the start of the tour, you will receive a van tour and or additional hikes at market price and refunded the remainder.
- Please be advised the tour course will be adjusted as necessary, dependent on weather conditions, ability of group, and the timing of tour.
- Bikevolcano.com does not issue refunds for those who opt out of the bicycling portion of a tour of their own volition, for Bikevolcano.com does not issue refunds for those who opt out of the bicycling portion of a tour of their own volition, for customers who are disruptive, disrespectful, and disobey tour rules, or for “no shows”.
- Bikevolcano.com reserves the right to refuse service to customers who are disruptive, disrespectful, and disobey tour rules.
- For the Bike to Pele tour, lava viewing can be unpredictable and is not guaranteed. If, the lava flow is reported to be not active or if the viewing area is predicted to be closed on the day prior to your tour date, we will notify you and offer an alternative tour that includes a stop at a thermal hot pond.
