Our Bike to Pele course starts with a visit to Lava Tree State Park. Next we will bike along a coastal country road through tropical jungles as we head towards the lava devastated village of Kalapana. Along the way you will see various lava flows that have cut through the jungle over time and your interpretive guide will provide you with information about these various eruptions and point out native Hawaiian plants.
Once we reach the village of Kalapana, which was destroyed in the 1991 lava flow, we hike to the famous New Kaimu Black Sand Beach created from this lava flow. Also, we will have lunch at the Kalapana Village Cafe before there before visiting the active flow area (lava depending) or the historic Star of the Sea Painted Church.Click Here For a Full Tour Description
