A Honeymooners Thank You!!!

05Nov09

I would like to thank BikeVolcano.com for the wonderful experience you provided for my wife and I last week. I would especially like to thank our guide and driver who led us on our tour and went ABOVE AND BEYOND what was expected from tour guides. Big Willy made the trip so easy and took care of everyone’s needs. His personality and commitment to the customer with taking care of the bikes for everyone was exceptional.

I can’t say enough about our guide. I thought we were just going to get some biker to follow around but he provides so much more. His knowledge of the volcano and island in general makes this adventure so much more enjoyable. We could tell he has a real passion for the island. You are very lucky to have him in this position. I probably drove him nuts with all my questions!!!!

Our guide and driver worked great together as a team, I can’t imagine a better working pair for your company. Please pass along our heartfelt thank you to both for what they provided. We learned so much!

Seeing this amazing volcano was one of the highlights of our Hawaiian honeymoon and we are so happy we included BikeVolcano.com.

Awesome Tour

AWESOME does not even begin to describe the time my sister and I had on the bike to Pele tour. Our guide and driver were GREAT. We definitely got to see things we would have never found on our own or with any other tour group. You know it is a real life experience when even your tour guide is in awe of the lava creeping down the mountain. Our guide was on top of his game and was able to answer any questions we had, some before we even had to ask. Our driveralso was a great addition to the tour and was very helpful with necessities like water and gave us a great feeling of comfort in case we did have issues with the physical aspect of biking. The two provide an amazing balance together and really made the tour one of our favorite things of our entire vacation. We have already begun spreading the word about how awesome our time was and will continue to recommend bikevolcano.com to anyone going to Hawaii. Thanks again for an unforgettable experience.

Summer Tour Review

We had a truly awesome time! There were 7 of us (McMullen’s and Holladay ’s) that did the bike tour in August. We all learned so much about the area. Our guide, made the adventure truly interesting; the teenagers enjoyed it as much as the adults. He let us know right away that he was just not a “biker dude” but had a degree in geology and the Hawaiian culture, (sorry if I quoted you incorrectly) and he lived up to it! He gave us the history of the volcanoes and the entire area. Our driver was always there to take care of anything any one of us needed; including providing rain coats and wiping down our bike seats when it rained! He entertained us with local stories and gave us suggestions on other things to see in the area. They both shared stories of their lives on the island, which I always feel is a true tour guide! It gives you a good feeling of what the area is all about. We were able to see so much of the area close up and our guide gave us all the history on everything we saw. They were truly a joy to spend the day with and we would recommend this trip to everyone that goes to the Big Island ! We spent 10 days on the Big Island and would like to say Mahalo to everyone at BikeVolcano for contributing to our wonderful adventure!

Our Guide was awesome! All four of us had a blast! He was extremely knowledgeable. It was way more than we had ever expected. We would and WILL highly recommend this tour. It is the best way to visit the volcano.

Our driver was very hospitable and was there whenever we needed something before we even had to ask. Lunch was very good and the view where we ate was outstanding!

There wasn’t anything that we would have done differently. Thanks so much for making our day FABULOUS!

We were lucky enough to have done many activities on our recent 10 day honeymoon trip to the big island. We had a blast doing everything from relaxing to riding horses, from fishing to zodiac rides through sea caves. We have to say though, that the bike ride we took on Monday, April 6 was the highlight of our vacation. Sure the itinerary was great. The bike ride and sights were breathtaking. We were even lucky enough to have booked our bike ride tour on the same day as another fabulous couple who we enjoyed meeting. However, what we feel really made the trip were our two guides. From the moment we were picked us up, he was hospitable, friendly, and accommodating with all of our questions and requests. We picked up our guide about 45 minutes later and that made our good trip even better — and we hadn’t even gotten on the bikes yet. Both of them have vast knowledge of the local culture and history, and our guide’s degrees in geography, music, and Hawaiian history (coupled with the small group and resulting personal attention we received) made for an incredibly educational tour. As teachers, we understand that educating someone is not simply a matter of just telling them about it. Asking questions, showing real-life examples, and checking for understanding were all strengths of your guides and we loved the warm, helpful treatment we received.

The Bike Volcano staff not only did their jobs, but we feel they went above and beyond to make our bike riding trip the best adventure we experienced on the island. Please pass on our sincere gratitude to them. As their boss and owner of the company, we hope you continue to value and cherish their efforts and hard work. Our wedding went off without a hitch and our honeymoon was filled with a fabulous sequence of activities. In spite of such a memorable past couple of weeks, they truly helped make this experience stand out above so many others.

With genuine appreciation,

Seniors Can Bike Down an Active Volcano too!!!

I just returned home from Hawaii and wanted to tell you how enjoyable our bike ride was on Tuesday June 2 2008. My cousin had not been on a bicycle in over 10 years and was a little hesitant about taking the trip. However there was peace of mind knowing that the van was just behind us in case we needed to bow out of the trip.

The stops at the destinations in the park was sometimes a welcome relief, only to find out that Fred was a geologist and very eager to explain things about the volcano. This was an extra added perk to this trip his enjoyment of the science and willingness to answer any questions asked. The van driver whose name i have forgotten was always there for us to replenish the water and nourishments.

This trip was one of our most favorable part of our trip to Hawaii, and proved that senior citizens overweight and out of shape can do this trip just be knowing how to ride a bicycle!! Your experience and details in this trip made this very enjoyable. BTW the deli you had prepared the lunch for us was an excellent choice.

Thanks again for making our trip down the volcanoe a legacy in our life.

Hawaii volcano Bike Tour

At 2:58 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, scientists at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory recorded a small explosion in Halema`uma`u crater, the first explosive event since 1924. Debris was scattered over a 75 acre area. A light dusting of ash fell in a community several miles away in the district of Ka`u.

On April 9, another small explosion occurred, depositing dense blocks and particles of fresh lava on the Halema`uma`u overlook area.

On April 16 at 3:57 a.m., another small explosion from the vent occurred producing a dusting of pale-red ash west of the crater.

The new explosion pit continues to vigorously vent gas and ash, with the plume alternating between brown (ash-rich) and white (ash-poor).

Cyclist on our Kilauea Volcano Summit to Sea & Wine Tasting Tour may view the new vent within Halema‘uma‘u crater and the plume from the several overlook as we bike around the summit crater.
